How to Find Cheap Tickets
Buying cheap airline tickets, as well as train or bus tickets, is not that hard if you know what to look for. There are a few things one needs to remember, though.
When buying tickets through an agent, always tell them that you want the "lowest possible fare," as there may be special offers you are not aware of. Moreover, agents are human (for the most part), and therefore not every one of them will be equally motivated to go into additional trouble of finding the most inexpensive ticket for you. They may not even be competent enough and know about all great deals available.
On the other hand, if you want to buy cheap airline tickets online, you also need to be a bit creative. Browsing through web-sites, you may find the lowest price, an average price, or a special price. But it is up to you to make comparisons and make a decision. A good strategy is to book the best-value, fully-refundable E-tickets early, and then continue looking for better deals to pop up.
Another thing to remember is that direct flights are not always cheaper than flights with stop-overs. So if convenience is not as important for you as the price, try looking for deals that require connections. You may find an attractive price on the main leg, but a high one on the connect. Try reversing the search, or book one leg at a time.
When planning international travel, allow at least three hours between connecting flights to give yourself a little extra time to change terminals in a foreign country.
If you plan to travel by bus, train or car, use these same principles, only adapt them to your specific circumstance.
